As the tech team continues to strengthen, Frederico Braga brings his vast experience in healthtech to Lyfegen.

Today Lyfegen is proud to announce a key addition to its management team with Frederico Braga joining as Chief Technology Officer. As a proven technology executive with more than 20 years of experience, he will take Lyfegen’s value-based healthcare technology to the next level.

• Previous to joining Lyfegen, Frederico led large IT transformation teams for IBM before moving to Life Science.
• He spent the last 10 years leading large IT teams at Novo Nordisk (NNIT), Medidata Solutions, and building up the European business of HighPoint Solutions before it was acquired by IQVIA.

“I am extremely excited to welcome Fred at Lyfegen. This is a big step for Lyfegen, to have a CTO of Fred’s caliber leading our tech and product team to reach our ambitions. With his experience at IQVIA, IBM and many more tech companies, Fred has exactly the kind of profile we and our customers need.” says Lyfegen’s CEO, Girisha Fernando.

We sat down with Frederico to give you more insight into his experience and hear about his big plans for Lyfegen.

Hi Fred, tell us a little about yourself: where are you from and what is your professional background?

I am originally from Portugal and my first job was working for the first Internet Service Provider. Can you imagine, at that time, internet usage could cost 3’000 Euros per month! I later moved on to IBM, leading large IT Transformation Teams for global Banks.
In the last 10 years I have been working in the Life Sciences Industry, first for a subsidiary of Novo Nordisk (NNIT) and later for Medidata Solutions and HighPoint Solutions, building up their European business before being acquired by IQVIA.
I have had the luxury of working in multiple process areas of Pharmaceutical and Medical Device product development and commercialization, always helping companies making better use of technology and data to improve their processes.

As you mentioned, you bring a vast experience and background in Life Science tech projects. Can you tell us a little more about these complex tech projects and how they have led you to Lyfegen today?

Some of the most complex projects I worked on involved dealing with data standards in the industry such as IDMP (Identification of Medicinal Products) where I have developed the first data collection tool that, helped the Industry and preparing for this new regulatory Standard.
Another very interesting one was a Tender History and Opportunity Repository where I supported the development of a tool collecting pharmaceutical tender information to help manufacturers with their tender strategy.

You are joining Lyfegen as part of the management team, taking on the role of Chief Technology Officer. Can you give us more insight to your role?

I am super excited about both Lyfegen and my role. My core responsibility is to make sure we leverage best of breed technology solutions to deliver innovative products which enable value-based healthcare.
This involves everything from participating in our company strategy definition and product roadmap, defining the best engineering approaches, managing security and compliance, user experience, support and supporting new customer onboarding activities.
I am also very fortunate to join a mature and talented and highly committed Team and hope I can contribute to its success and further development.

You are a key pillar in bringing Lyfegen’s technology to the next level. How do you plan on doing this?

As a SaaS company delivering in a complex market we want to be leading in two areas: Speed of Development / Innovation and Data and Algorithms. We are implementing a more iterative process to evolve our products by coupling the design and build activities closer together and in parallel with the necessary validation of these new features with our customers. On the Data and Algorithms side we are constantly taking advantage of some cutting edge data science core technologies which is giving us tremendous flexibility and power when dealing with complex and dynamic datasets.

What inspired you to join Lyfegen?

3 reasons: 1. The profound impact that value-based healthcare can have on people’s lives. The current access and pricing models for drugs and healthcare services are built for a paradigm of quantity and patent expiration cycles which will not happen in a future where manufacturers move to “beyond the pill” models, where healthcare costs are rising, and where medicine becomes personalized. Without adequate compensation and risk sharing mechanisms, innovation will be hindered.
2. Because of the talented and experienced (albeit young) Team. Lyfegen has a fantastic work culture.
3. The challenge of building technology that can make a difference in overcoming the hurdles of making value-based healthcare a reality.

Enough about work! What passions do you have outside of Lyfegen?

In my free time I like to do Mountain Running, Mountain Biking and Skiing. I also spend some time helping further develop the Electronic Medical Records System for the Tanzanian Children's Fund and most importantly, enjoying life with my 2 beautiful daughters.

We are proud to welcome Frederico to the Lyfegen management team!
